The Problem

S T

U D

IO V

In our modern built environment we have an increased disconnect from the natural world, specifically in educational spaces such as schools and universities. The problem is that our school studio, studio V doesn’t have any elements of biophilia. It's lacking the accessibility of natural light and other natural elements in its interior.

BIOPHILIA

"Biophilia is the inherent human inclination to

affiliate with nature that even in the modern

world continues to be critical to people’s

physical and mental health and wellbeing"

(Wilson 1986, Kellert and Wilson 1994).

EDWARD E. WILSON

The theorist is the American biologist Edward E.

Wilson, he takes a scientific perspective on the

idea of biophilia. He argues that humanity's future

just as its origins must be rooted in a co-existence

with nature and our psychological well-being is

connected to our relationship with nature.

WHAT WE LEARNED

ABOUT BIOPHILIC

DESIGN

When being successful

in biophilic design there is a good

result in physical, mental and

behavioral benefits. It is an innovative

way to incorporate light, air, water,

plants into a space causing stress

levels to reduce and improve the well

being of the human body.
