While it’s not likely that you will make a career directly in sport sociology, it is inevitable that whatever career path you take, you will encounter situations that require knowledge of how to demonstrate yourself in a socially competent way.

I challenge you to consider how your learning in this class can contribute to making you both a better member of society and more competitive candidate for your “dream job.”

Based on this, prepare a 3-4 page, double spaced paper on how this course has prepared you in some way for your desired career path. This will be worth 50 points. The paper should include the following information (use these headings in your paper):

Background (10 points) – ½ page-1 page

· A description of what your desired career is (the more specific you can go here, the more engaging this will be). Include a specific organization you wish to work at and specific title you’ve targeted.

· Share the “why” (at least two personal reasons why) you are drawn to this career.

Connection to course content (20 points) – 1 page-1 ½ pages

· Choose one sociological issue that you might encounter in your future career (choose either gender, race, or social class).

· Paint the picture of a specific scenario you may encounter in your dream job that relates to the sociological issue you chose.

· Explain how this situation connects to a specific term or concept that we have covered in class.

Your solution (10 points) – 1 page-1 ½ pages

· Then, share how the content you learned in this class has prepared you to effectively navigate these situations.

· In other words, what is your solution to this issue that has arisen based on what you have learned in this class?
