Subject: Report Proposal

This memo proposes a recommendation report on time management to Jennifer Owens. My research will show that time management can be affected by psychological, behavioral or related factors. The specific problem of Jennifer is a lack of training in time management. The audiences of this recommendation report are Jennifer Owens and the course instructor.

Project Overview

The following will explain the research I have conducted on the effects of lack of time management on students such as Jennifer, and what she can do to ensure that she uses her time effectively.

Background/ Problem

Jennifer Owens is a hardworking student who is majoring in history and philosophy. Despite being hardworking and a promising student, she always submits assignments late and is never on time to attend lectures. Jennifer understands that dealing with her time management issues will make her class scores higher. Like many other students across the world, Jennifer is also a victim of procrastination. Procrastination is delay in doing assignments or any other activity until the last minute.

Time management needs to be discussed so that Jennifer can learn how powerful time can be in achieving results across all spheres of life, and not just in class. Jennifer has made it known to me that she does not do her assignments in good time and give them the seriousness they deserve. She always tries to complete any pending assignments when they are almost due. The rush to hand over the assignment makes her assignments get low scores because she has not researched on most topics. Jennifer would like to know how she can manage her time effectively to ensure that her academics are not negatively affected.

Goal/Scope

This report will incorporate how-to information on best time management techniques that Jennifer needs to practice to ensure that she is a top performer.

My report will consist of:

· An explanation of what time management is about

· An outline of techniques required to manage time effectively

· A step-by-step guide on how to avoid procrastination

· Information on benefits of time management

Sources

Much of the research for explanation on time management and step-by-step comes from my own experience with organization of tasks and assignments as well as looking at what my peers have been doing. For my studies, I read through articles of the most successful people on how they managed time to ensure that they achieved success.

In my own experience, I learned that procrastination can be sweet but it can lead to losses and damages that one might not recover from. Because of procrastination, I lost an internship opportunity in a busy organization. With that lesson, I vowed to never procrastinate on a matter that I can handle right away.

Interviews

With my little experience, I wanted to find out if a successful businessman knew of more tricks up their sleeves that I could pass on to Jennifer Owens so that she can avoid procrastinating issues. I conducted a face-to-face interview with Peter James, a successful entrepreneur in California to find out how he managed his time to ensure his business thrived. I sought the opinion of a successful person because I knew my experience was limited, and a person who has had success in business could share more to encourage Jennifer Owens.

Mr. James gave me a checklist of tricks to use to manage time effectively that Jennifer Owens would need to apply in daily activities. A working bibliography of sources is included at the end of this report proposal.

Time Management

To ensure that I complete this report by the due date, I will set weekly goals and ensure they are completed within specified timelines. I will use the Gantt chart below to ensure that I am on track with set timelines so that I do not leave tasks incomplete. (See Table 1). I will use school holidays as additional time to work on the report so that set deadlines are met. Since I do not have classes on Tuesdays, I will use that time to complete report sections that are incomplete and stay ahead.

In addition to writing this report, I am a full-time student where I take assignments and quizzes every other day. Since most of these are due on a weekly basis, I will assign work for each day depending on the complexity of issues that need to be addressed. As earlier stated in the report that I do not have classes on Tuesdays, I will ensure I handle as many tasks as possible so that class work is not affected by my dedication to the report writing. Since I have assignments to submit, I need to ensure that I handle my time well in conducting research to avoid delays and getting low scores. On school holidays, I plan on going to public libraries where I will work on the report since it will be noisy in my house. My small brother and cousins will distract me from working well so it will only be fair to go to a serene place to write a good report.

Qualifications

Besides being a student, I am a qualified life coach who speaks to people on different matters that relate to time management. Being a history and psychology major in my final year, I have written dozens of papers while applying conventional writing styles while adhering to proper citations. I have experience in guiding students in making timetables on how to handle school assignments while incorporating other aspects of their lives. Being a person who has had poor time management issues in the past, I understand what Jennifer Owens is going through and I hope to create a guide that will make things better. I am interested in writing this report because many students like procrastinating and causing delays in handing in assignments. I am yet to come across a guide that helps students manage their time effectively.

Budget

When this report comes to a conclusion, I will have accrued an expense of $95.25. I will incur telephone and travel expenses as I seek to interview Mr. James to give tips on the best time management techniques. I will not incur any binding and copying costs because the report is to be submitted online.

Request for Approval

I am requesting approval of this proposal for my formal report project. I look forward to completing the project so that I can share it with Jennifer Owens. This report will help Jennifer Owens and other students who do not know how to use time effectively. Thank you for your time and consideration.
