Death and Dying Conference Poster Project

Introduction:

As part of their PSY-141 course this semester, students will complete one Death and Dying Conference Poster Project. When completing the project, students will choose a topic/concept from the appropriate chapters.

For this project, students will present information on ONE topic from textbook chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 OR 6. Students are free to choose any concept/topic that is covered in the chapter, but will likely need to conduct additional research outside of the textbook. Sources used in addition to the textbook MUST be considered “scholarly”.

Details:

The “Conference Poster” is explained in detail below.

1. Academic Conference Poster and Audio File: As the name suggests, academic conference posters are typically used as a presentation tool during professional conferences. These posters have an academic focus and usually convey research information. For our purposes, the academic conference poster will contain information about your chosen topic. Students should Google “Academic Conference Posters” to see examples. I have included a conference poster template in your Blackboard course site that students are free to modify and use. You will submit your conference poster as a digital file. You will NOT actually print the poster.

a. NOTE: Students MUST include an audio file of them “presenting” the information on the poster. The audio file should be 3-4 minutes in length and should mimic a live, in-person presentation (in other words, you should not read exactly what is written on your Conference Poster).

b. Students must include a separate Reference page listing each source of information used in the Conference Poster.

Grading:

The project is worth 15% of your overall average in the course. Projects will be graded using the following rubric:
