Analysis:
This is an article of author published in: online colleges, the date of published was in
May 6, 2020. The audience was people who visit the website and interested on studying online
courses in colleges. The purpose of this article was to convince people to study their courses
online by giving them 8 reasons. The information “A 2012 study from Babson/College
Board showed that 77% of academic leaders believed that online education
offerings were just as good, if not better, than classroom-based educational
offerings.” that was presented in the article was created a perspective that online courses are
better than traditional courses. Moreover, the organization of the text was very helpful in shaping
the readers understanding of the article by giving the facts of the recent article in U.S.
News & World Report that shows that more hiring managers are seeing
the value in online degrees, as long as they come from properly accredited
institutions. This information is credible because when I visited the U.S new
& world website I found the information on it. I determine that this issue is
objective because I am a student and I felt the advantage and disadvantage
of online studying also that, I heard a lot slant and perspective from my
surroundings. The rhetorical appeals were used in the author presentation
of information. For example, she used logos by giving logic evidence in
A study from California State University in San Bernadino of two different
sets of students—one group who studied online and the other who went to
class. she used pathos when she tried to convince the audience by using
emotional “If you're someone whose eyes glaze over during a classroom
lecture, you may find that you respond better to online learning
approaches’’

discussed them. The first disadvantage was being without or deficient in accreditation
and low quality. He also mentioned that, there will be little of face to face interaction.
Moreover, the author considered online classes are more work to the student. He said
that there is extreme force in the requirement of self-discipline and self-direction.
Analysis:
This is a post by Tom, published on a blog from Peterson’s College website, in
November 29, 2017. The audience was student who still choosing online classes to study. The
purpose of this article was to convince student who are interest to study their courses in online
classes by giving them 5 disadvantages of why traditional classes are better than online classes.
The information “Mark Edmundson, an English professor at the University of Virginia, argued in
a Time opinion piece that online education creates (monologue and not a real dialogue) in the
learning environment.”
that was presented in the article was created a perspective that traditional courses are better than
online courses in case of face to face interaction. In addition, the organization of the text was
very helpful in shaping the readers understanding of the article by giving the fact that in online
classes student do hard work and they spend 15 to 20 hours per week which is not common. I
believe that this information is credible because I am a student who study in a university that
recently teaches their course online and I worked more in online classes than normal classes.
Moreover, this text intended to be objective because many students and professors disagreed the
idea of online classes and they have nothing to do because of the current global pandemic that
forces the universities to teach students online. And this piece a slant of disagreeing the idea of
online classes by telling five disadvantages. The rhetorical appeals were used in the
author presentation of information. For example, he used logos by giving
logic evidence from information “Mark Edmundson, an English professor at the University
of Virginia, argued in a Time opinion piece. And he used Pathos when he tried to convince
the audience by using emotional “if you tend to procrastination, then you
might need to strengthen your skill set before an online course or
program.”
Synthesis of both sources:
I found two sources that disagree with each other because the first source was fully
agreeing the idea of online studying by giving 8 advantages. However, the second source was
disagreeing the idea of studying online by giving 5 advantages. Both sources were agreement
that these days many universities used the new technique of teaching which is the online method.
These sources provided new information to me that different from what I understood about this
issue. For example, before reading the two sources I wasn’t really care about the expenses on the
education, but when I read the two sources, I found that many students had trouble with
transportation expenses on traditional classes and many students suffer with technology
expenses. These sources changed how I think about this issue because before I was fully
disagreeing the idea of online classes but, when I read both sources, I became littlie agreeing the
idea because the 8 advantage of studying online convinced me a lot. There are some points that if
it was discussed the both sources will be better, which is if the authors put a interview with a
student who faced a problem or satisfied with this issue. These sources shaped my own argument
by letting me in between agreeing or disagreeing the idea of online studying rather than attending
physically the traditional way. Finally, the decision of online teaching is not in our hands it is
controlled by the university so we should live with this issue either if we agree or disagree it. I
really appreciate my experience recently with my university that teaches us with online method,
this save my life from the COVID-19 recent pandemic.
