Week 4 Chapter 10, 11, 12
This week we will look at three more counseling theories. Each is unique in approach and brings something different to our work with children and adolescents.
Chapter 10 covers Brief Counseling. I find it very useful with students due to the limited amount of time available for counseling in the school setting. And the Miracle Question is a good way to start a conversation and move it in a positive direction.
Chapter 11 is on Individual Psychology. Alfred Adler developed this counseling theory and brought us the term lifestyle and insight into birth order. He is one of my favorite people in the counseling field.
Chapter 12 is on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy is preferred by many therapists working with adults and is just as useful in counseling with children and adolescents. You will see its many applications as you read through the material.
