Hello Class,
I have to say, this course was definitely beneficial as I was able to really focus on drafting my DSP. With each SLP assignment, I was able to revise each chapter to get it to where it is now. I am hopeful that at the end of this course, I will have my final DSP written and ready for Doc 700. I want to start Doc 700 as ready and prepared as I possibly can. I want to get a good start in that class and not have to fix too much of my paper as I want to have enough time to start my data collection. If all goes well, I hope to complete 700, 701, and 702 all by Spring 2022. When I first enrolled in the program, I told myself I was not going to take any breaks because I know how hard it can be to resume after a break. However, when my mother got sick, I took off an entire session, so my plan of graduating in December was pushed back to Springtime. I am going to do whatever I can so that I do not have to take another break, especially now that I am this close; I am motivated to complete my research as quickly as possible. Plus, the time that I was off, it was hard to jump back on and remember what I had been working on.
I decided to pursue my doctorate degree to become a teacher at a college or university. I had always liked the school environment and loved teaching when I was a tutor back in college. I truly believe this is my calling. Even when I was working, I saw myself teaching my peers new things all the time. I love helping others learn! One of the hardest and most challenging aspects of my career was quitting my job to focus on school. Don't get me wrong, I love being an HR Professional and may continue that as a Consultant down the road, but it is not something I want to do full-time, working fifty hours plus a week. That was a big sacrifice that my family has supported me with, and I have to make them proud by finishing my degree. I know it has taken a lot of time and commitment to get to where we are now but it is all worth it. After I graduate, I hope to land a teaching job by the Fall of 2022. Wish me luck!
