Identify the strengths of different personality types and how they can be engaged in the context of public health.
Original Contribution: Make an original post based on your class activity (~250 words /AMA format for sources). Sharing your personality type is optional. A list of the types is provided here: http://www.humanmetrics.com/personality/type - My type INFJ-results attached
Did anything you read seem particularly true with your type? Have you worked/lived with someone with an “opposite” personality type (e.g., introvert vs. extrovert, thinking vs. feeling)? What were some of the advantages and disadvantages? Is there anything that you have learned from working with different personality types that you want to share with your classmates?
Response Post: Give an example from your own life inspired by classmate Alakabawy’s post and how you believe personality types influenced the situation.
Classmate Alakabawy
According to the “Humanmetrics” test, my personality type is ESTP: 19% Extravert, 6% Sensing, 19% Thinking, 25% Perceiving. I found the results are quite similar to my personality in some aspects like communication skills, and career choices.
ESTP persons are competitive, admire the strengths of themselves and others, and it is hard for them to admit weakness.1 For learning styles, ESTP persons can learn using unintegrated courses to a specific organization as well as learning in an organized educational system, like a degree.2 I think that is so me, that’s why I am now here studying the MPH program. They can also remember material, which is built on a logical context, and this recalling is improved if the delivered material were supported by examples.2
Regarding communication, ESTP can communicate easily with people with other personality types and make many friends, however, they are more likely to have a superficial relationship with some of them.3This is typically me, I also have a problem in expressing my feelings, and this is from the characteristics of ESTP people.3
Although most ESTPs often find themselves in occupations that need a prompt and active response like salespeople, crime and fraud investigators, sailors, actors, entrepreneurs, and sometimes politicians,4I do not find myself in such occupations except for entrepreneurs. I have been always dreaming of having my own business, and I hope one day I can fulfill this dream.
