Response for EB DB 2

During this course, I have gained a better understanding of the necessary steps to conduct research on existing programs or interventions, evaluate the obtained data, and evaluate research conducted by other professionals.  According to the NASW Code of Ethics (2017), social workers promote social justice and social change on behalf of our consumers through research and evaluation.  By engaging in research and evaluation, I will be able to increase my professional knowledge of interventions, gain a better understanding of a variety of different interventions, and the ability to implement the interventions.  Research is critical in determining the effect of a service program has on the consumer and helps to provide social workers with insight into how a social problem is affecting their consumer population.  By engaging in research, social workers are ablet o develop their professional practice by assessing the needs of the individuals within their community, evaluate the effectiveness of the service they provide or alternative services, advance their professional knowledge, and increase their understanding on how social policies a legislations impact their consumer population.  Through research, social workers can develop new policies, programs, and services that meet their consumer needs.  Skills most applicable is the ability to identify the different research methods and assessment and the research results.  Through research and evaluation, I will be able to conduct self-assessment to increase my professional knowledge, develop and implement new programs to enhance consumer services.
