1). Your profession aligns perfectly with my major, so I would love to know what would be some strategy’s you use when managing employ conflict?
During the Q and A Mr. Swanson did mention that if you don’t deal with people who are disrupting, they will continue and will negatively impact company. So in other words take care of the conflict before it really becomes a huge problem for the company.
2). How Important do you think and HR department is for a company? For example, is it a type of department that can be easily outsourced?
3). What are some effective ways you think that feedback should be given to an employee?
He did touch upon the subject and mentioned that when giving direct feedback you want to try and separate facts from emotions, have to know how to approach employee by telling them in a factual way and not a way that will spark emotion because it can lead to a negative response. Resulting in employees becoming emotional involved leading to an emotional response.
· Moved out of 10-year program at university, high risk but paid off, courage off speaking up, being open to new ideas taking the risk even if you don’t think you are fit. HR allows you too do that very flexible
· If you work for international company be prepared to travel a lot, but he said it is very tough too do so. If not made for you look for local company whatever is fit for you.
· As company flattens, there is little roles for you too move up in so there comes the time you think it is time to step down.
· One thing many HR departments lack is not using data analytics too help CEO make informed decisions one great weakness in companies.
· Want HR business parting how can we recruit better employees? How can we improve customer satisfaction?
· Best new CEOs he has experience with are the ones that come in and the first 90 days just observe and listen. Seek cultural icons within company who are respected and try and build on that style.
· There are people out there that are building your career to at there expense, so find a way to respectfully approach them.
· If there are politics within the company that are not benefiting the company needs to stop and if no one notices is should speak out.
· If company values clash with your own you will hate job,
· Must separate values and ideals

· If you don’t deal with people who are disrupting, they will continue and will negatively impact company. Never be the type of Manager to who want to make everyone happy by paying more giving them easier work or other things because it will never stop, they will continue and never really be happy.
· Trying to work hard efficiently mon- fri and focus weekends on family.
· Not making decisions that had to be made and keep putting it off expecting them to change, never do and the problem then turns into a disaster.
· It not what you know it who you know networking is key for getting the job. Someone be an advocate for you is huge.
· During interview process, investigate company before hand and ask questions relative to their current events
· Have the courage to speak out and give your opinion, can take you from being back of room to front. Sometimes your ideas may be stupid but you try and learn and try new things
· A lot of HR people don’t think like business people, take time to learn how the business makes money.
· Biggest mistake is hiring people like you, need different verity people who can bring different ideas to company and can challenge you.
· Motivating employees pay raise or promotion, are short term stimulates, to motivate them try and give them tasks that they are passionate to them or are interested in, although there will be the time you need them to get other things done.
