· Finally, there is an extra item at the end called excluded. We had a participant refuse to take notes in the notes by hand condition and they did not pay attention, so they will be excluded from the analyses. To do this, we will use the Data menu – Select Cases – If Conditions are Satisfied. Then click the If… button and put in Exclude = 0. Press continue and then press Okay. You will need to do this before running the rest of the analyses to filter out that individual. (Additional information on selecting cases is in the SPSS walkthrough guides folder) .
