indent>>>>>This is (what is “this? ” – specify ) the act of intentionally or unintentionally releasing confidential, private or secure information to an environment that is not trusted. It may also be called, data leak, data spill or unintentional disclosure of information. There have been a lot of incidences involving this and they rand ( ? ) from black hats attacks (< explain this term) having some association with political activists, organized crimes and even the government to <check word agreement/ sentence structure >improper disposal of storage medias and computers that are no longer in use as well as source that is not hackable. This would be the introductory paragraph. Be sure that you have a clear thesis- what will this paper prove or talk about in one sentence. Example : “ A data breach can completely destroy an organization.” If that were your thesis then the paper would go on to discuss several ways that a data breach could destroy an organization. You might discuss how it could destroy the trust in the company, the financial future of the company, and the employees’ job security in the company. Each one of those things would be discussed in its own paragraph and you would use sources from research to support the ideas in the paragraph. Another thesis idea might be about how data breaches occur. You would have a strong thesis- one sentence, then the following paragraphs would talk about three or four ways that data breaches might happen.
>>>>>The best definition of this (specify what “this” is) is an incident in which protected, sensitive or confidential information is transmitted, copied, stolen, used or viewed by a person who don’t have the authority to do so. These breaches might involve personal health information, financial information like bank details or credit cards, trade secrets, personal identifiable information or personal property think to use a citation here to support this definition. Also consider the short paragraph – each parag should be approximately 5 sentences.
>>>>>Some organization like the nonprofit customer organization came out with a research need to cite this info in apa that more the two hundred and twenty seven private records having very confidential and sensitive information have been breached from 2005 to 2008 in the united states, such a short span of time and all this is not inclusive of the times when there were breaches but sensitive data not disclosed. < run on sentence. Think of how this next sentence/ subject connects to the last sentence There are many laws that have been passed regarding to data breaches. Most of them being the data breach notification laws where a business or an organization that its data has been breached to inform all its clients and customers on the breach and the effect extent of it. ( need more info on the laws ) They ( specify they) are also required to take all the necessary actions and steps to prevent more injuries to their data and information. Think of how the info connects to the next sentence/ next parag. Be sure that everything flows logically. Look to make sure that each section / parag has the same subject and explores that subject completely then moves to the next subject.
>>> These breaches may include loosing or theft of digital Medias that may include hard drives, laptop computers or computer tapes containing those Medias in which the information is stored. Posting of such information on computers that are accessible from the internet or posting them on the worldwide web without the required security information or transferring those kind of information into systems that are not fully accredited for security at approvals or transferring them to information systems of agencies that are in a way hostile like competitors or foreign land where they might in a way be exposed to decryption techniques that are more intensive. < run on sentence. Be sure to use citations in the text for information from research. Think of how best to combine the short paragraphs into larger paragraphs that fully explore each main idea.
Trust and privacy ( is this a heading? Check APA format )
>>>Trusted environment notion is in a way fluid. Be sure you find a way to connect your ideas from the previous section or sentence to the next so that the reader can see the logical relationship. Try to avoid jumping to a new idea abruptly. In a case where a trusted staff member having all the accesses to confidential and sensitive information departs from the organization that might be as well data breach if they still remain with the access codes (West, 2016). This is trust relationship termination and in such cases the person might choose to leak the information or use it in a way that is not in accordance to the regulations of the business, mostly to benefit oneself and to avoid such in times of terminations, access codes need to be changed as well. Consider more information and support on the ideas in this paragraph
>>>>>Some businesses have distributed systems, and in this kind of situation breach can occur through a web of trust breakdown. Data quality is one of the best ways of protecting your data from breach, mostly because it gives the owner the freedom to rate his or her data and protecting it according to the importance it has, the more the importance the more the protection mechanism. Citation needed. This of course gives room for several types of protection in the same business. More information needed.
>>>>Many of the incidences that have been publicized in media are things to do with private information in individuals. There are some corporate information like trade secrets, contract details and also some government information that are most of the times not reported when they disappear since they is no reason of disclosing because it has no effect to the local citizens and in some cases making such things public at times may cause more damage than the breach itself. More information and citations needed for this section. You seem to be talking about various types of breaches. Be sure then that your thesis statement in the first paragraph shows this and that the entire paper is organized around the three or four types of breaches that you will discuss.
Insider versus external threats Headings are normally used in lit reviews. In an essay it may be up to the professor or the format required of the assignment or essay- be sure to check
In most cases those that are working for the organization have been the major causes of the data losses. 37% of all the breaches that have so far been reported have been caused by human factors though accidental (Takach, 2016). The category of the external attacks may come from cybercriminal organizations, hackers, as well as actors that are state sponsored. There have been though a lot of professional educations on information technology on the best ways that one can protect the data and information from being breached. This is mostly done to and by the information technology managers and mostly they learn about how they can reduce both internal and external risks to their information technology software, assets and also information. Security will always prevent a bigger percentage of the hackers but there are others who are always highly motivated to the task and they always try all means to get into the network which makes protection very hard. There was one CEO from Cisco who ones quoted that ‘there are two types of companies, the first one are those that have been hacked and the second one are those that think that they have not been hacked because nowadays even detection of the breach has been a new achievement, these hackers are mostly IT geniuses who are well equipped with the knowledge. Be sure to show where the quote ends and to cite in apa format. Think to make the connection to the next section through a transition.
Medical data breach
This ( specify what this is) mostly happen to celebrities, (Why does this happen to celebrities only?- explain) medical data breaches have always made them the victims and this mostly happens on individual basis, in most cases it is not a large breach. Due to the increased medical data breaches many countries have enacted laws that protect the privacy of individual regarding their confidential medical information and most of them have even configured the information electronically and given the individuals the right to access into their personal medical records and also be getting notifications on losses and unauthorized access to their medical information (Belangia, 2015). In some countries like the United States they have made it made the medical data breach notification mandatory because of the increased rate of medical data breach.
Consequences
Although this (what is “this”?) has the risk of identity theft and even some other consequences that are more serious it rarely causes a serious damage because in most cases the breach is contained before the data and sometimes the thieves are not even interested with the data but the hard drive containing the information. When the breach is made public it becomes more disadvantageous to the hackers because the affected people will take the necessary measures to protect their data, like in a case of financial institution data breach the affected people will take new credit cards and the information will no longer be of benefit to them.
In most cases it is difficult to get information on indirect and direct loss of value coming from the hack. The best approach that has mostly been used in assessing the effect of the breach has been studying the reaction of the market and connects it to its economic consequences.<citation Event studies have been the best way to conduct this by measuring the economic impact of the event by just looking at the security prices for just a short period of time.
Data breach has never brought out the best out of a person, it rarely changes the state of the organization or the business and should therefore not be a thing to run into since it even rarely changes the life of the hacker. Be sure that the conclusion summarizes the content of the essay
