Assessment Description

Assume you will be managing two projects- one operational (given below) and one innovative (that you will find yourself). You need to write a report addressing and comparing both projects using the criteria below.

1) Consider the below operational project on determining the optimal number of warehouses for

Assessment Task Report Structure:

Introduction: Introduce your two projects, identify similarities and differences.

• Operational Project (800 words) based on operational case study:

o Outline the scope of the project

o Evaluate your natural leadership style and how you will use it to lead the project

o Suggest a project management methodology and integrate it with the leadership style

o Estimate the budget of project (estimated- in COVID environment)

o Evaluate possible human resources involved, and associated factors, e.g. workstyles,

training & cultural fit

o Write a short 100-word reflection of issues you may encounter when managing the

project

• Discovery Project (800 words) based on an innovation case study of your choice: o Describe how you will assess the risk of the project using predictive project analytics

(PPA)

o Justify why this project should be undertaken given the PPA relating to its impact

o Choose an optimal leadership style for the project

o Suggest a project management methodology and integrate it with the leadership style

o Estimate the budget of project (estimated- in COVID environment) and why this may

not be possible given the nature of innovation

o Describe the team undertaking the project, or if not mentioned in the case study,

suggest one that might be suitable and diverse

o Explain how you would democratise the project across the business

o Write a short 100-word reflection of issues you may encounter when managing the

project

Conclusion: (400 words)

• Compare the two projects in terms of: o Characteristics o Project methodologies o Human resource requirements o Optimal leadership styles for both

Assignment Submission

Students must submit their individual analysis via Turnitin on Thursday of Week 13 at 23:55pm AEST. This file must be submitted as a M i c r o s o f t word document to avoid any technical issues that may occur from incorrect file format upload. Uploaded files with a virus will not be considered as a legitimate submission. Turnitin will notify you if there is any issue with the submitted file. In this case, you must contact your lecturer via email and provide a brief description of the issue and a screen shot of the Turnitin error message.

Students are also encouraged to submit their work well in advance of the time deadline to avoid any possible delay with Turnitin similarity report generation or any other technical difficulties.

Late assignment submission penalties

Penalties will be imposed on late assignment submissions in accordance with Kaplan Business School’s Assessment Policy.

1* - 9 days 5% per day for each calendar day late deducted from the student’s total Marks.

10 - 14 days 50% deducted from the student’s total marks. After 14 days Assignments that are submitted more than 14 calendar days after the

due date will not be accepted and the student will receive a mark of zero for the assignment(s).

Note Notwithstanding the above penalty rules, assignments will also be given a mark of zero if they are submitted after assignments have been returned to students.

*Assignments submitted at any stage within the first 24 hours after deadline will be considered to be one day late and therefore subject to the associated penalty.
