1- Sustainability

AstraZeneca's sustainability strategy is being implemented through these three focuses. Healthcare accessibility, ecological preservation, and openness and honesty are among these top concerns. At AstraZeneca, sustainability is becoming increasingly important. The new focus on sustainability this year is to unite, innovate, and transform in order to guarantee a bright future for all of humanity, not only in Africa (Sustainability at AstraZeneca,n.d.). This year, the emerging aspect of sustainability is also based on connecting, innovating, and transforming, to deliver a common future across Africa and beyond (Sustainability at AstraZeneca, 2022). What does sustainability have to do with the pharmaceutical industry? The pharmaceutical business is one of the most significant parts of the global economy and has had and continues to have a significant effect on people's lives because of its contributions to health and quality of life (EFPIA, 2019). Drugs, vaccinations, and other medical interventions for both widespread and uncommon illnesses are all the purview of the pharmaceutical sector. With an aging global population and better healthcare systems, the pharmaceutical industry is responding to rising demand by becoming more conscious of the need to achieve sustainable development while supplying a broader spectrum of pharmaceutical goods. That's why people are starting to take a closer look at the pharmaceutical sector and how its operations affect the environment (Milanesi et al., n.d.).

2- Supply Chain

The Taskforce at AstraZeneca is working to hasten the transition to a carbon-neutral health system by focusing on the product supply chain, which is responsible for almost half of the healthcare industry's total emissions (Supply Chain at AstraZeneca, 2022). Within the context of any given healthcare system, medicine supply as a strategic product should be considered the highest priority. Pharmaceutical businesses, which play a significant role in the distribution of drugs, are vulnerable to a variety of dangers. These risks cause disruptions in the supply of medicine in many ways, including their quantity and quality as well as their delivery to the appropriate location, clients, and at the appropriate time. Therefore, the identification of potential risks in the supply processes of pharmaceutical businesses and the implementation of preventative measures are strongly encouraged (Milanesi et al., n.d).

3-Improved cybersecurity

Data from the pharmaceutical industry is among the most valuable and difficult to decipher for cybercriminals. A new analysis from Reposify found that 92 percent of businesses had had at least one instance when sensitive data may have been leaked, and 46 percent had an unsecured Server Message Block (SMB) service. Threats can come from a variety of different places, including phishing attempts, careless workers, and compromised third-party providers. Security threats are an inevitable reality for the pharmaceutical industry due to the constant stream of new technology. As we approach 2022, we should expect a heightened focus on cyber security. The planned changes to HIPAA and HITECH that were released in 2021 will go into effect in 2022, prompting pharmaceutical companies and their business associates to reevaluate the role that sensitive customer information plays in their operations. For instance, HIPAA-covered businesses must provide individuals with customized estimates of costs when they give a copy of an individual's PHI and must publish estimated price schedules for access and disclosure of PHI on their websites (Krugly2018).

Hi Ruth, thanks for the draft. Your trends are great but your paper is focused on one company - AstraZeneca. The project is on trends in your industry - so in this case, it should be focused on the pharma industry as a whole and not just one company.

I am sure it is possible to tweak your narrative to address the industry - example, instead of saying 'at AstraZeneca, something happens' say 'the pharma industry is facing <something>', where applicable.
