Evaluation: This will be a graded paper. The project of this assignment is to successfully engage in a conversation with Michel Foucault’s “Panopticism.” Successful papers will clearly summarize and then unpack the idea(s) Foucault lays out in “Panopticism” and also summarize/explain the second chosen text. Utilizing close reading analysis, essays should trace a common thread of discussion moving through both texts, thus making a conversation visible. Essays should explain how “Panopticism” can be used to better understand the second text or how the second text helps us better understand “Panopticism,” while addressing the different rhetorical situations of each. Successful papers will also have a logical structure and form a cohesive project. Citations must be correctly handled and a Works Cited page must be included.
