Your written response to this discussion prompt continues your learning from Week Four on goal writing. This discussion also supports your achievement of Course Learning Outcomes 3 and 4 and the MASE Program Learning Outcome 6.
For this discussion, you will utilize the skills that you learned observing behavior to write student goals that are observable and measurable. This skill is essential, as it will be used in creating behavior plans for students. In this exercise, you will be writing goals that will help you when completing the Week Six assignment. You will be writing two types of goals with two different functions: to increase general positive behaviors and decrease problem behaviors. You will be provided with two positive behaviors that you will seek to increase and two negative behaviors that you will seek to decrease. As you respond to this discussion, think back to the Week Four discussion on creation of SMART goals as well as this week’s Instructor Guidance.
Initial Post: Post an initial response that addresses the following areas:
Using the Goal Writing for General Positive Behavior Increase or Problem Behavior Reduction or Elimination document,
· Write two goals for increasing positive behaviors.
· Write two goals for decreasing problem behaviors.
Next, in a paragraph,
· Identify the disability you are focusing on for this course.
· Discuss any challenges you had when completing the form (writing you had no challenges is not an option).
Guided Response: Answer any follow-up questions your instructor may have for you after reading your post. Read your classmates’ posts and respond to at least three of them. Read at least two of your peers’ goals and provide feedback based on their goals. Feedback may include suggestions, such as ways to make the behavior more objective, conditions more specific, and/or proficiency expectations more reasonable. If you have dealt with a similar situation as the ones described, please offer your personal experience as well.
Though two replies is the basic expectation, for deeper engagement and application of the material, you are encouraged to provide responses to any comments or questions others have given to you (including your instructor) before Day 7. This ongoing engagement in the discussion will deepen the conversation while providing opportunities to demonstrate your content expertise, critical thinking, and real-world
