Question 1 (a) For the space shown in Figure Q1, estimate the electrical load and clearly state
the units. Where specific dimensions are not given please estimate. (35 Marks)
(b) A data centre building has a total floor area 4000m2,of which 2,800m2 is used
for data processing equipment and the remainder as general office space. The building has electrical air conditioning throughout. Estimate the electrical load and size a suitable transformer (or transformers) for the building and specify an appropriate make and model. You may include a data sheet in your answer.

(c) For the space shown in Figure Q1 discuss the different types of electrical load and what their relative influence is on the overall load profile of the building. Use sketches and equations to illustrate your answers. Any reasonable assumption regarding the type of equipment expected in the office space is acceptable.
(30 Marks) Question 2 Discuss the methods for protection against electrical shock described in BSEN 7671(2008), the IEE Wiring Regulations. Your answer should include reference to restrictions in the application of particular methods.

Question 3 The increased use of daylighting in buildings offers a significant opportunity to reduce the amount of energy consumption associated with electric lighting schemes. Explain why this is the case and describe the range of techniques that could be applied in order to achieve this reduction.
