This assignment is an individual assignment. 1. Produce a critical discourse analysis of the 2012 CBI Scotland Dinner speech by Antonio Horta-Osorio, CEO of Lloyds Bank. [1300 words]

As core reference use McCabe, D. (2016) ‘Numericalizing the other: A critical analysis of a strategy discourse in a UK bank.’ Organization 23(4), 525-549. Select further academic journal articles and other reliable sources.

This assessment part weighs 60 %. 2. Propose an alternative discourse in the form of a letter from the bank’s employees to its CEO, re-presenting the approach to Change from the employees’ perspective. For the purpose of this exercise, assume that the CEO is Antonio Horta-Osorio. [500 words]. You may use the McCabe article and select other academic and other appropriate references for your answer.

GUIDELINES AND BACKGROUND TO THIS ASSIGNMENT Plagiarism As part of your study you will be involved in carrying out research and using this when writing up your coursework. It is important that you correctly acknowledge someone else’s writing, thoughts or ideas and that you do not attempt to pass this off as your own work. Doing so is known as plagiarism.
