Identify the Educational Philosophies of the Mississippippi State Standards and School Mission Statements

Mission statement is The Mission of Gulfport School District

is to inspire each student to become a problem solver, lifelong learner, and productive member of society.

If we are to move our state, school districts, schools and our students in grades kindergarten through 12th forward, we must fully understand the philosophy and vision of each of these organizations.  As educators, we must embrace the plan and mission if we are to help our students master the standards set forth by our state, that are aligned with the national standards and national assessments (ACT). However, let's not forget that the standards are the minimum or basic requirements and we should seek to engage students in rich learning experiences integrated with the Framework for 21st Century Learning.   http://www.p21.org/our-work/p21-framework

• Begin with an opening paragraph defining the 5 Educational Philosophies in your own words.  

• 1) Perennialism

• 2)Idealism

• 3)Realism

• 4)Experimentalism

• 5) Existentialism

• Review the educational philosophies aligned with the state standards for the discipline you are seeking license. Will be in Health Education

• Write a one-two paragraphs explaining the educational philosophies aligned with the state standards. Provide at least 3 examples to support your claim. 

• Review the educational philosophies aligned with the mission (vision or purpose) statement for the school district (school) you have been hired to work or where you want to work.  Write a one-two paragraph explaining the educational philosophies aligned with the mission (vision or purpose) statement. Provide at least 3 examples to support your claim.

• Use a closing paragraph to describe your personal educational philosophy along with similarities and differences to what you have identified in the above sections.
