In the first paragraph identify the work you have selected, its creator (if known), and both the time period and culture from which it comes. The work may be in one of the overlapping periods but place it in one of the eight periods within the general chronology. If you don't know the specific culture in which the work was created, then use the nationality of the artist that created it. Include a discussion of the work in general. Include anything that makes the work interesting or unique.

In the second paragraph discuss the cultural aspect or aspects that the work reflects. The list is in your notes. There were several specific ones that were identified. Focus on why it was created rather than how it was used or viewed at a later time. What was the artist trying to say? Then discuss how you came to that conclusion. Take the cultural aspect(s) identified and discuss how it(they) represent(s) the culture that was identified in the first paragraph. Note that there are 13 points for this part so it should be developed accordingly.

In the third paragraph identify the way or ways that the work communicates the idea. There were three identified - document, comment, and influence. Remember this reflects the reason the artist created it, and not how it was necessarily viewed by others later. Then, defend your choice with respect to the work within the culture that was identified in the first paragraph. Note that there are 8 points for this part so it should be developed accordingly.
