Subject Needs Interests and Culture: Assignment-Module 3

This week you will continue your Individual Guidance Plan Case Study by looking more closely at a child’s interests and culture and then, how that may affect behavior.

NOTE: This week’s assignment should include at least one resource to substantiate your point of view. This resource can come from the course, the Rasmussen College Library or credible websites (Wikipedia, About.com and blogs are not considered credible websites). Incorporate your resource into your paper using in-text citations and a reference page in APA format.

In your analysis this week, describe your child’s interests and culture and then answer the following questions in a 2-3 page paper.

1. Briefly describe your child’s cultural background. You already outlined this in Module 1. What is their background or culture? Describe family heritage, languages spoken, traditions observed, religion and cultural background.

2. In what areas of the room/curricular areas (stations or interest centers) is this child particularly interested? Why do you think this is so?

3. In what areas of the room/curricular areas (stations or interest centers) is this child particularly NOT interested in? Why do you think this is so?

4. What mistaken/inappropriate behaviors did you observe? Describe the circumstances briefly and identify the area(s) of development you relate these behaviors to.

5. What positive behavior traits do you see with this child? Describe the circumstances briefly and identify the area(s) of development you relate these behaviors to?

6. What more do you need to learn about this child and his/her behavior in order to draw conclusions/predict behavior. Share your plan to collect this information/data.

Be sure to include your reference in a reference page and use in-text citations where needed. Include a title page in APA Format. The paper length (2-3pages) does not include your reference page or title page.
