Subject: Culturally Responsive Design
In chapter two of Akpem’s Cross-Cultural Design, he states five principles related to? Akpem says that cross-cultural design’s first principle is embracing cultural immersion, which entails familiarizing oneself with the culture they are signing for. The second principle is researching creative communities to gain networks with a complex and unique design problem that offers greater insight into one’s work. The third principle is working with experts with prior experience who offer knowledge on how your audience will receive your content. Questioning assumptions is another important principle that handles biases and assumptions that could come over the needs of real users. Finally, prioritizing flexibility is a principle that allows changes according to the ever-changing dynamics (Akpem, 2020, p 60). These principles intersect with prior concepts of people and culture, which requires that a business understands the culture of its targeted market and embraces designs that satisfy its needs.
The most surprising of the elements is questioning assumptions. This is an element that is probably ignored in many settings. I learned the importance of not making any assumptions and handling customers' needs facing the truth. It is vital to be clear and honest about the assumptions.
Working with a team of experts is a culturally responsive design. What makes it culturally responsive is its ability to rely on the ground experience to address the audience’s needs directly. For example, using social networks to hire social media marketers. This can be improved by embracing cultural differences to explain the description of the job, the requirements for the job, and how they can revert in case they are interested.
Anser thissss 3. Find a culturally-responsive design, and
I. Write about what about this design makes it culturally responsive. Cite extensive examples, screen shots, language, etc
II. How do you think it could be improved based on any prior concepts or frameworks we have learned so far?
