Private companies now govern much of our digital lives, shaping what we can do and say. They aren’t governments, but they seem to act like them. Identify two platforms or systems where you are a digital citizen. What rules govern those spaces? Do you feel like you understand how those rules are made and enforced? Do you trust them? Why or why not?

Governments are sustainable when they are seen as legitimate. In the readings, identify what actions were taken for cryptocurrency and the Facebook Oversight Board to appear legitimate. Do these mechanisms replicate old problems, create new ones, or offer a true alternative? Explain your reasoning for each case.
