Choose one of the following topics and write a 5 page word essay. The essay should be in APA format and submitted as a Word document via the drop box provided. You will have the entire course to complete this assignment, so don’t procrastinate. Elaboration is key. Don’t give me a Wikipedia definition of it and click “print”. You will fail. You must have a minimum of four outside sources providing support for the ideas you are using. That means, since you are using outside source material, you will need to include a “Reference” page (not counted in the 5 pages) and citations in the text to signal that you have used outside source material.

1. Capital Punishment:

- What is the difference between capital punishment and corporal punishment?

- Do you agree with capital punishment?

- What is the history of capital punishment in your country?

- What does the government do about people wrongly executed?

- Is the death penalty a deterrent to violent crime?

-Include the Supreme court case that dealt with Capital Punishment

2. The Second Amendment including the Brady Act

- Do guns contribute to higher or lower crime rates?

- Are self-defense laws like Florida’s Stand Your Ground helpful or harmful?

- How should guns be regulated?

- What are the appropriate roles of the gun lobby and gun-control advocates?

- Should felons be allowed to own guns?

- Should handguns be permitted in places like college campuses, national parks and coffee shops?

Note: These are some of the questions that you need to answer dealing with the Brady Act. You are not limited to these questions.
