The impact of fire can be financially devastating, psychologically traumatic, and sometimes fatal. This assignment shows that fire is a national problem that impacts individuals locally. Instructions:
• Discuss the role of a Fire Investigator. o What are their roles and responsibilities? o When a fire investigator is a public employee, what are their main
objectives when conducting a cause and origin investigation? o When a fire investigator works for a private insurance company, how are
their priorities different? o Are there ethical concerns or conflicts of interest that can arrive when
conducting private investigation for a specific client?
• Research a significant fire that happened in your hometown or nearby community.
o Using information from the article, assume you are the fire investigator, summarize the who, what, where, when, why, and how.
o What scientific methodology was used in the investigation? If unclear from the details of the article, what scientific methodology would you suggest in the investigation? Explain.
