Part 1:

"Addressing People Issues in Criminal Justice"  Please respond to the following:

· Identify the problems that accompany immigration to the U.S. and the kinds of approaches some police agencies are taking to attempt to address these problems. Next, delineate the various political, economic, and social issues that underlie immigration and border security. Discuss whether you believe the approaches by law enforcement are effective given these underlying issues. Justify your response.

RE: Week 9 Discussion

The protracted debate continues over what to do with undocumented aliens residing in the U.S. however, and has led to what is often described as a broken system. 72% pf Americans (80% of democrats and 56% of republicans) believe that undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S. should be allowed to remain in this country if meeting certain requirements, in terms of securing the border with a wall or a fence, about half 46% of Americans favor building a fence along the entire border with Mexico, while a nearly equal amount 4% are opposed. Policing services funded a web-based basic immigration enforcement training program to train officers in such areas as determining immigrant/nonimmigrant status, identifying false identification, and notifying foreign nationals embassy or consulate.
