I would say the 3-4 most important aspects of the recruitment , training, socializationprocess of police officers are Character investigation, Pyschological exam, and background checks. Finding out and talking to the candidates past and current friends, coworkers, teachers, neighbors, and employers, gives the police more insight on the candidate can he or she be trusted to do the right things that would make him/her a good police officer and also to take references and call them and inquire about the candidate. I would say they prepare officers through medical exam, drug screening to make sure they are physically fit for the job as an police officer because if a person is unfit they are a hazard to themselves and their co-workers. They also prepare police officers through the use of assessment centers which include interviews, psychological tests, in-basket exercises, management tasks, group discussions, role playing exercises, during each excercise, several assessors or rators analyze each candidates performance and record some type of qualitative evaluation score.Bottom of Form
