Critical Thinking Assignment 2 Prof. Joshua Mackie
1. Revise last week’s essay that responded to "Corn-Pone Opinions " by Mark Twain and George Saunders’s “Jon”. Use the feedback from your workshop groups -- and your own new thinking on the matter -- to assist you in your rewrite. Be mindful of our discussion of "re- vision" and all the possibilities that this can offer in reaching our readers more effectively. (2 pages - 1 Copy) 2. For next week, get a newspaper or online publication, preferably one you usually do not read. Find a statement in it with which you strongly disagree. Express the primary reason for your disagreement in the form of a one or two sentence statement. Use this statement as the claim of your response. This paper should develop your argument from your point of view and run about 2 pages in length*. Bring the source material (the newspaper, magazine, or printout) you responded to with you to class with your paper next week. *In your introduction, start by giving the reader some sense of the topic that you are undertaking and the context of the statement (fully citing the article) that you are responding to.
