Writing Prompt:

Most people who think, aren't thinking critically. Sadly, by the time a K-12 student enrolls in postsecondary education (college), that student cannot be taught to think critically. Instructions: Write an essay, select an appropriate Rhetorical Strategy that explores and analyzes why a college student may not be able to think critically. Focus on discussing and then explaining how one can be

taught to be a critical thinker once he/she become a college student.

In order to receive credit, your essay Must conform to the guidelines and requirements provided below

Essay Guidelines & Requirements:

- Essay must have a title & subtitle

- Formal Essay Outline with Clear Thesis Statement [ attached to the front.]

- Attach a works cited (MLA style) page to the essay if you do any research for this paper.

- All essays must use MLA Style Documentation; you must acknowledge all sources even if you are paraphrasing or summarizing avoid plagiarism by accurately documenting all sources.

• [At a minimum this Essay should be no less than 1000-words typed in 12pt. font double spaced lines with 1 inch margins.]

Objectives:

(I.) The essayist should accurately document their evidence-or evaluate a point of view from scholars that are informed about the issue prior to reaching any conclusions.

(ii.) The Writer should thoroughly synthesize information gathered from good scholarly sources and present that information. It is very important that the writer understand the influence of context, and despite any prior assumptions use their sources to draw conclusions.

(iii.) A journal that achieves the objectives spelled out here will have explained issues coherently, integrated sources into their essay well, and clearly demonstrate an in-depth understanding the issues.
