Critique the eight-amendment prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment. What if someone you loved was killed? Would you choose the death penalty, even knowing the costs and that the person would be locked up virtually forever even in absence of the death penalty? If so, why do your wishes give the state the right to take another life?
