DISCUSSION 2
Selected News topic:
This paper will explore the news of ongoing farmers' protests in India for the past few months.
There has been a difference of narrative on why the farmers are protesting. Moreover, the
reaction and response of the Indian government on the subject is also evaluated under these
narratives. Different newspaper and media channels have covered the topic but everyone has
their own perspective on the issues. For this paper, the topic under consideration will be assessed
by comparing and contrasting the same topic covered in four different news platforms (Menon,
2021).
Selected News channels:
For the purpose of this assignment, four news platforms are selected including BBC News,
Washington Post, Aljazeera, and The Hindu (Milliff, 2021). To begin with, BBC news which is
a European (English) news outlet will present how the European nations are perceiving the issue.
Similarly, the Washington Post will present the perspective of the United States. Moreover, Al
Jazeera will present the take of the Middle East on the topic as Aljazeera is an Arab News outlet
based in Qatar (Bahree, 2020) . Lastly, the Hindu is selected from India to present the opinion
and perspective of the local perception ad interpretation of the news. It will also present the
perspective of the Indian government on the topic. To conclude there will be adversity in
narratives from different parts of the world to assess and understand the new topic and reach
reality (Hindu, 2021).
