Critical Analysis Lab 2: Motivations for Marriage

Discuss the differing reasons people marry (Chapter 8, Section 8.1).

How do demographic characteristics impact the motivations for marriage?  For example, a young person may marry to escape parental authority, but as people enter their 30s this may not be a reason for marriage.  Which motivations for marriage may contribute to enduring marriages and which ones may not?

Discuss marrying for economic reasons and why this may not work in American culture, while it does in other cultures.
