Second Texas Penal Code (TPC) task. Per the syllabus –

a. “Students will examine instructor assigned cases found in the text and summarize the facts, outline the law of the jurisdiction where the case was tried, locate portions of the Texas Penal Code that would have been applied if the case had been tried in Texas and discuss what the result would have been in Texas if the case had been tried in Texas. Submitted in assignments and must be in .doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt or .pdf format.”

b. TPC tasks are to be prepared in essay format. There is no need to use a specific style guide; however, this is a writing assignment so use of proper grammar, punctuation, word choice etc is expected. There is no specific length but a longer fuller effort will usually result in a better product. Do not copy – paraphrase – again this is a writing assignment. Post in assignments. Due 10-23-22 by 11:59 pm. Here is a link to the Texas Statutes and the Penal Code https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/?link=PE. To find the appropriate Texas statutes try using the significant statutory language mentioned in the text and look for those terms in the Chapter titles in the TPC.

c. Students have been organized in the following groups. The purpose of the group formation is to assign tasks. Each student in the group submits his/her work individually.

d. Students whose last names begin with A through K are in group AK.

e. Students whose last names begin with L through Z are in group LZ.

f. Submit the following items depending on the group to which you belong and the task for that specific group. Read instructions carefully. A longer more thorough answer is always better. No points for brevity. Do not copy. Paraphrase and use your own words to answer.

g. Parties in play Group LZ (See the graphics file in module) The players are as follows:

1. Dumber the guy with the gun

2. Dumb the guy with the bag

3. Tonya Teller

4. Trusty Tom – Security Guard

5. Scout the lookout 6. Clueless the driver

7. Wimpy the guy furnishing the bank floorplan

8. Mom who agrees to let the crew stay for a while after the robbery

h. This relates to level of complicity in crimes. Under current statutory schemes how would present day criminal law label the foregoing players? See pages 244-255 in text. How would these persons be charged under Texas law? Cite the Texas statutes and explain your reasoning.

i. Under older common law schemes, how would the players be labeled? See pages 244- 254 and chart on page 245 in text.

j. Explain who could be charged in the armed robbery and how they would be charged and why.

k. Now suppose Trusty Tom is shot and killed during the robbery by Dumb. Who can be charged in the murder?
