Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to express my interest in a Business Analyst position with McKinsey & Company.  I am convinced that the Business Analyst program is an outstanding professional opportunity and believe that I would be a valuable addition to the 2008 class for three reasons:

First, I thrive in a challenging environment.  At the University of Texas, I am a quadruple major in Business Honors, Plan II Honors, Management, and Government with a 3.94 overall GPA.  My enrollment in UT’s most competitive degree programs and selection of four majors demonstrate both my penchant for a challenge and my work ethic in overcoming a challenge.  I would bring the same thirst for excellence to McKinsey & Company.

Second, I have a unique and valuable set of professional experiences.  I spent two summers working in private wealth management at Morgan Stanley, where I received a broad introduction to the capital markets.  Seeking a diversity of experiences, I also served in analytical roles for a large non-profit and two senior members of the U.S. Congress.  This combination of private and public sector experiences has taught me the universal importance of analytical rigor and quantitative thinking and, as a result, I am certain that I would bring a mature perspective to the Business Analyst program class.

Third, as the founder of the Southeast Asian Children’s Coalition, I am an entrepreneurial leader. Among other projects, I funded and created Ho Chi Minh City’s first computer and English literacy center for the disadvantaged.  I was selected both for the Goldman Sachs Global Leader award and for Glamour Magazine’s Top Ten College Women award on the basis of my entrepreneurial leadership skills.  I am eager to further develop these skills at McKinsey & Company.

I would greatly appreciate an opportunity to interview for this position and look forward to hearing from you. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions and/or for references.

Sincerely,

Christine Nguyen
