Course Overview:

This course provides a chance for the student to independently examine different problems and responsibilities associated with the teaching role in nursing, as well as developing further competencies in the area of teaching in the nursing field. This course tackles topics, like problem-based learning, interprofessional teaching, technology- assisted strategies, advanced clinical teaching, and evaluation of learning experiences, to achieve its objectives.

Course Objectives:

At the end of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Cultivation of Professional Behaviors

2. Discuss the various technology-assisted teaching strategies.

3. Describe the impact of new and emerging technologies on education.

4. Analyze the advanced clinical teaching issues, challenges and their implications on nursing education.

5. Critique the various issues concerning the evaluation of learning experiences.

6. Develop a learning project/report illustrating a special problem in teaching nursing, and its dimensions and alternative solution.

Course requirements:

The course is divided into Seven Units as outlined in the syllabus. Its content is organized in a manner that directly integrates theoretical concepts with practical applications. Work sessions will involve dealing with teaching problems, simulated exercises, as well as learning exercises in groups and as individuals. Project/report on a specific teaching problem will be developed and presented. Course Outlines:

Unit 6: Teaching in Guided Practice Settings: The Clinical Skills Laboratory

Unit 7: Literacy in Adult Client Population

Course Evaluation: Evaluation is based on the student's participation and involvement throughout the class working sessions, discussions, and efficiency in developing the project/report.

Assignment preparation and presentation 15 % of total grade.

Term paper 20 % of total grade.

Mid Term Exam 25 % of total grade.

Reflection Report 15 % of total grade

Online Course Design 25 % of total grade.

General rules:

• Students are required to be present and punctual every day. As per KSU rules and

regulations, you are required to attend at least 75 % of the sessions to enter the final

exam. Attendance will be calculated from the first week of the semester, regardless

of the day of enrollment in the course.

• As per KSU rules and regulations, sick leaves (out of KSU facilities) will not be

accepted unless being authenticated by KSU.

• Students are responsible for any missed session, in term of session content,

homework, assignments, and exams.

• Missed deadlines for homework and projects will affect your grade with no credit.

• Missed quizzes will not be re-taken.

• Missed midterms or final exams, however, may be taken following KSU policy.

• Cheating or plagiarism on tests or assignments will lead to formal disciplinary

action.

• In courses that have a practical part, students will not enter the final practical unless

they pass 85 % of the required clinical competencies for this course.
