Unit 1 DB 2
MGMT655 Capstone Professor: Ardith Bowman, Ph.D.
By now, I am sure you know the attendance, participation, professional communication, and APA requirements for CTU Online. All relate to the Capstone experience. Be sure to continue your professionalism in your teams. Expect (in fact, hope for!) some conflict, a true sign of effective team work. The trick is to manage it to arrive an excellent decisions.
Chat Sessions:
I will hold one Live Chat per week on Thursdays at 6:30 pm CT. We will explore CapSim requirements and add information to augment your learning. This is a good place to ask questions through the Chat function! I hope you can attend in person; otherwise, the Chats are recorded for later viewing.
Office Hours:
I will be in the course available to IM each Friday from 11-noon CT. If you put your phone number in the IM message, I will call you. I selected Friday because grades will be posted by then; this is an opportunity to clarify feedback and ask questions.
Discussion Boards:
Your discussion main posts are due by midnight Friday each week. Be sure your post is 400-600 words, probably three solid paragraphs. Apply material from the course; to go above and beyond, include one peer-reviewed, scholarly reference (other than the course texts or materials) in your main posting. List your references in APA format in the reference section. Please do not overuse direct quotations. Instead, paraphrase all material in your own words to support your thinking.
I will be present in discussions and truly appreciate interacting with you! You can expect me to engage with you one or two times during the term.
Reply to at least two peers by midnight Tuesday. Try to generate a conversation about our topic for the week; that is what the discussion is intended to do! We learn together. You can add additional perspectives on a topic, expand on their ideas, or challenge their ideas.
Your tone and writing style in discussions should be professional. Always put your best foot forward! Refrain from using slang. Write in full sentences and with good composition and spelling. You never know what opportunity might arise from your networking in school!
Group and Individual Assignments:
Projects are group CapSim assignments in the first three weeks. You will create a PowerPoint with notes to present the reasoning behind your decisions. Be sure to use in your notes the manuscript style found in the Library. Click the Library tab in the course, then click on “Citation Resources.” You will find and undergraduate sample manuscript and template in which to write your papers. Be sure to list your references in APA format in the reference section.
In Unit 4, you get to run your own simulation company in the CapSim “footrace.” The footrace is fun because you get to grow a business to profitability on your own. Plus, this helps prepare you for the Comp-XM assessment that is the Individual Project for Week 5.
