Responsibility for Lack of Corporate Environmental Compliance
The Environmental Protection Agency is tasked with protecting the United States’ natural resources. The organization has partnerships with state and local governments, federal agencies, and interested citizens. The organization and the federal government should be responsible for the lack of corporate environmental compliance due to their laxity in handling such matters (Rehbinder & Stewart, 2020). Corporates are also responsible for the lack of corporate environmental compliance because of their ignorance of the set regulations and standards.
Obligation of States to Provide Effective Environmental Protection
State governments should be obligated to provide effective environmental protection. State governments need ensure that laws are enacted and enforced to protect the environment and human health. State governments also need to coordinate environmental protection activities with the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure maximum compliance. State governments could implement regulations on how companies that deal with timber cut down trees and those who exploit mineral and oil resources conduct their activities (Glicksman et al., 2019). The regulations should ensure the long run conservation of the environment and natural resources. State governments should also be obligated to direct the day to day activities aimed at protecting the environment.
