Retrieved May 25, 2025 from https://www.adlit.org/in-the-classroom/strategies/frayer-model A Frayer model can be used for students to actively learn new vocabulary through words, images, sentences, illustrations, examples, and non-examples. The Frayer model helps to build multiple examples and context for one word so that the students can develop meaning of that term. This strategy is used for Tier 3 terms in a lesson. Students can create Frayer models on different days and build an interactive dictionary of key terms for a unit. Examples can also be shared in small groups or in a digital dictionary by the teacher. Example words may be equation, inequatity, proportional reasoning, slope, linear, function, etc. vocabulary - use of one Tier 3 vocaulary term, provides different notes and images for students to create meaning
