New Dean Brings Future Vision to CEHHS

Jennifer Ostergren was brought on as the new Dean of the College of Education, Health & Human Services in 2021. She was a longtime professor of speech-language pathology at Cal State Long Beach and served as the associate dean of the College of Health and Human Services at the same university. She believes that she can bring her expertise and futurist way of thinking to CSUSM and help guide the CEHHS into a successful future. She is quoted saying, “When I think about us as a college, there's so much need for us to really engage with our community around health and education and human services,” she said. “We have this expertise in the things that have been so disrupted by the pandemic and are going to be forever changed going forward.”
Public Health Program to Become a Department
June 18, 2021
The public health program at Cal State San Marcos has been approved to move from the school of nursing and become a department within the College of Education, Health and Human Services, effective July 1, 2021. Christina Holub, interim director of the program and now chair of the new Department of Public Health, exclaims the excitement of the new program, “With our recent accreditation and with a growing interest in public health careers, largely due to the pandemic, our team of faculty and staff are excited to train the next generation of culturally intelligent public health professionals”.
