Newcastle upon Tyne, also known as Newcastle, grew up centuries ago because of the industrial revolution that came to the north-East due to the increased population. Newcastle, therefore, became a Centre for exporting coal, where shipments were built. At the time of the increased industrial revolution, public transport was still limited, and the workers were also living at the places they were working at. Jesmond is about 2 km away from the river tyne and dates its growth from the heavy industry by then. Jesmond housed wealthy people, and up to date, if you go to some streets like Mitchell Avenue, you will still find very expensive structures that were built lately 1890s and also early 1900s (Perry, 2018). The prices of houses in Jesmond have a limit and tend not to reach some levels and depend on the types of houses. The variety of house properties in the UK is in different shapes and sizes. There are those houses that are located on their grounds; this is called detached. There is also that share a common wall with other houses referred to as semi-detached. In the UK, there are terraced houses that form a row of properties as well as the bungalows, which only have a ground floor but not upstairs. Tyneside flats are a type of terraced houses, but the difference is that it is divided into two-upstairs and downstairs occupied separately with different front doors. Other types may also be found in the area. The report aims to come up with a sample of 30 houses in the two regions of Jesmond and Byker (Lehner & Blaschke, 2019). The information on their prices, the number of bedrooms, and sizes of each house will be used to compare the two areas and later confirm the hypothesis that houses in Jesmond are more expensive than Byker.
Methodology
The first thing to do is data collection from at least 30 properties from each area (Jesmond & Byker). The information can be found from a variety of sources, for example, newspapers containing some information about properties to be sold. The cheapest way to use also is by visiting individual websites of ESTATE AGENTS.
The sampling technique to be used is random, which will ensure that there is a better sample representative of the population in the area selected. In the areas, it is presumed that there are many 3-bedroom semi-detached houses, but the sampling technique will make sure that the number is regulated. After data collection, the tables are created with the Microsoft excel and then printed out differently from the most expensive to less expensive downwards.
not just choose the first few properties on a website, as they may be the most expensive or least expensive properties available. The next thing is to break the data up into two areas in terms of types of properties available or the number of features having 1,2,3,4 or more bedrooms. A comparison is then made between the two areas on the information found with the help of tables and figures. The data can also be broken up further into smaller categories, such as drawing the graphs that show the prices of individual 2-bedroom or 3-bedroom properties in the two areas.
The data should then go through analysis, whereby measures of central tendency and dispersion will be calculated. For analysis purposes, the mean, median, mode, and standard deviations will be calculated.
Results & Discussion
The data were taken from the Estate agents website that shows the prices of the property in both Jesmond and Byker areas. The information then extracted. The information below indicates recorded and analyzed data of the Jesmond area.

For the Jesmond, the pie chart shows that the people in the area mostly purchase flat and apartment houses. The flat houses seem to be cheaper than the other types of houses. The second most available house is semi-detached ones, followed by terraced and also detached. The bungalows are not likely to be found in the town.

The histogram also shows the frequencies of the availability of houses according to the bedroom number. In the study, the houses selected have a maximum number of five bedrooms. The graph shows that most types of houses found at higher frequencies have three bedrooms. The ones with four and five bedrooms do not occur frequently. There are no houses with one bedroom and a few four and five bedrooms

A boxplot shows the variability of house prices data in Jesmond. From the diagram, the data is slightly concentrated at the lower values therefore, the data is said to be skewed to the right.

On the other hand, the Byker area is shown by the pie chart that the terraced houses are the majority of properties on sale, followed by flat houses. The semi-detached takes position three in terms of percentage availability, and detached is fourth. In the pie chart, it is also seen that bungalow houses are not found in this area.

The histogram gives us another analysis of the frequencies of availability of houses according to the number of bedrooms. From the graph, it can be deduced that a house with two bedrooms occurs more frequently. One bedroomed apartment and four bedroomed houses are less found in the area.

The data from the boxplot shows concentration on the lower values of the prices. It therefore shows that the prices of houses in Byker are skewed to the right.

On calculation, the mean of the prices of the properties is 327,806, while the median falls slightly below the mean at a value of 277,500 Euros. The standard deviation is recorded at 171196.3915 Euros.
The calculations show that the average selling price of the houses in the Jesmond area is 81303.84615 Euros. The median values of the prices fall at 80,000 Euros. The standard deviation shows a total of 31151.18507 Euros away from the mean value.
From the information, there are noticeable differences and some similarities between the two areas in terms of house types available and prices.
One similar thing is that the type of the houses found in both areas are more of flat ones. The reason for this similarity is that many dwellers in the regions are just there because of work and therefore they don’t need to have significant and prestigious houses. Also, according to the size of the house and number of bedrooms, more houses have between 2 and 3 bedrooms.
When it comes to prices, statistics show that the average prices of the property in Jesmond are higher than in Byker. The reason is because of variation in the economies of the two areas. Jesmond is a well-developed area with having higher economy and hosts majorly the wealthy individuals who can afford the high prices. The variation between the mean of prices varies between the two regions as there is a higher standard deviation in Byker than in Jesmond.
Conclusion
In conclusion, having seen the analysis of the data, it is found that the prices of houses in Jesmond are more expensive than in Byker. The hypothesis has been proved.
