Running Head: NURSING PROJECT 1

NURSING PROJECT 2

Nursing project

Introduction

In the entire healthcare sector, nurses must provide evidence-based practice to nurses, particularly when providing oxygen to patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) (Garrod, Paul & Wedzicha, 2000). However, many may argue that provision of oxygen to COPD patients may result to serious healthcare conditions such as acidosis, hypercarbia or even death, but based with evidence-based practice provision of oxygen to this patients have reduced the number of death and severe complications to patients with breathing challenges.

There are two complications under COPD, which include Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema. The two conditions are non-reversible lifelong conditions with no chances of permanent healing, and thus they can only be managed by the healthcare personnel. My project has created an intensive care unit with all equipment and personnel to manage COPD patients in a private hospital in Florida.

Identification of obstacles

Construction intensive Care unit building is in progress; however, some project teams have failed to meet critical deadlines, thus delaying the whole project. On the other hand, the project manager has failed to monitor workers during the construction period since it is time-consuming. Through some research, I realized that the project leaders could not provide timely reports to the project manager. Although the project manager and the project leaders have been meeting weekly, the project has not been able to identify employees with special talents and hobbies to be assigned a special role in the project implementation.

The other challenge with the project implementation is that some sub-projects are spending more resources beyond the projected budget as outlined in the project charter and the project scope. There are few cases of fund misappropriation among the project leaders during the project implementation. To prevent the challenges from reoccurring in the future, I have requested the management apply the emerging technologies to enable the project manager to manage the project easily.

The main effective emerging technology in managing a project is the Microsoft project management software (Deshmukh, Sagale & Bais, 2019). The technology will enable the project manager to divide the entire project into smaller sub-projects that are easily manageable without the need for the project manager to visit the project's actual site. The availability of various sub-projects will enable the project manager to set deadlines; timelines are resources that are realistic to a particular section of the project.

The Microsoft project management software will enable to project manager to monitor data through charts and spreadsheets. The analysis of each data will enable the project manager to identify talents and hobbies among various employees and assist in assigning employees responsibilities based on one responsibility and interest. The software will also enable the project manager to identify individual employees who are delaying the project's whole implementation process. The software will also enable the project manager to fire employees who are misappropriating the project funds.

Project implementation to date

Through the project charter and project scope document, the whole project was anticipated to be completed within nine months. Up to date, we have used roughly six months and left with three months to complete the project based on the initial projection. So far, we have interviewed ten nurses who have signed a contract of providing care to COPD patients at the intensive care unit for ten years after the project's official opening to patients.

More resources have been used and others misappropriated by project leaders, and therefore we might not complete the project with the remaining amount of funds available. The project was anticipated to use a hundred thousand USA dollars; however, more than eighty percent of the fund has already been used, and the project about sixty percent implemented. I call upon the project's main sponsors to continue supporting this noble as we try to streamline the management of the project through Microsoft project management software.

Identification of project outcome

Purchase of various COPD care and hiring or healthcare personnel is already implemented. The only remaining implementation section is the completion of the intensive care unit where there have been delays. Incorporating project Microsoft management software will enable the project manager to assign employees duties based on their hobbies and interest.

The shift of employees will enable the organization to adjust to the timelines outlined in the project charter (Singh, Keil & Kasi, 2009). Corrupts projects will be fired, and the employment of other project leaders who are more qualified will be implemented immediately. Suppose the organization will source some funds in terms of grants and sponsors. In that case, the project will be completed as anticipated earlier, and therefore no need for adjusting any timelines of the project.

Summary of the project

Many people in Florida are suffering from Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema, particularly in the elderly. Since the two diseases and manageable conditions, it is critical to implement Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD) project to cater to the vulnerable population. The project improves employing healthcare personnel to provide oxygen to patients suffering from COPD; it involves purchasing healthcare infrastructure and construction of intensive care unit. I recommend future researchers implement projects that will enhance infection control and a project that ascertains blood pressure in children noninvasively.
