The United States significant stakeholders comprise of participants in the healthcare system and their crucial role in helping the consumers of the sector. For instance, the federal government is involved partially in the healthcare by trying to bridge the gap that the private providers have left in the sector. The state and county healthcare units provide vaccinations, prenatal care, and other infectious diseases. The state and health units offer hospital and clinic services to the citizens, especially for mental care services. The other stakeholders are the regulatory bodies such as HHS, CDC, and FDA that offer direct services. Another stakeholder is CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid) that was founded to provide service for the elderly and the low income. Medicare offers to 65 and above citizens a federal hospital and doctor insurance, and some premiums that may be due. For Medicaid helps the medical costs to be paid by the state and federal government.
According to the WHO, health is the state of physical, mental and social well-being of a human being it doesn’t mean having the absence of a disease. The four indicators for health include life expectancy, rates of disease, infant mortality rate and the causes of death and disability. According to OECD, the U.S ranked the lowest based on the health indicators such as infant mortality, low birth weight, and years of potential death. On both male and female life expectancy japan, France, Sweden and Australia are better ranked in comparison with the United States. On deaths per 1000 births, the U.S is ranked the last with 7.1 deaths while Hong Kong is ranked highest with 3.1, followed by Japan 3.4 and Sweden at 3.4. On the issue of infant mortality rate U.S is leading with six from 1000 births comparable to Japan, Austria, and Germany recording less than 3.5 deaths for 1000 births.
