Project and their requirements

FYI Consultation Report

You have been hired by your country's Tourism Board to provide consultation. The consultation report will consist of minimum of 5000 words excluding references and appendices (see p. 3 on the standards/formaústructure of the consultation report). The lecturer will decide whether you wilt be assigned Consultation Project 1 or 2, and possible division of labour and sub-topics should there be or more students assigned to the same consultation project.

Consultation Project I—Make Tourism a Key Economic Pillar of Your Selected Country

Propose to the Tourism Board of your selected country how to make tourism a key economic pillar by increasing tourism receipts, visitor arrivals, and jobs in the service sector. Review the existing tourisms situation using the integrated model of tourism shown in Figure 1. Then, proposed the future tourism situation, guided by the six strategic thrusts in Table 1 (p. 3) to make tourism the key economic pillar of your selected country.

1 Strategic Thrust I—redefining tourism

Tourism is all-encompassing. Directly and indirectly, it reaches into the myriad aspects of life—from a tourist on a group tour to a waiter, tourism is found in one form or another.

2 Strategic Thrust 2—reformulating the product

Evoke one's memories of great cities and invariably, places like Paris, New Yorkt and London come to mind. Cities like these leave deep impressions.

3 Strategic Thrust 3—developing tourism as an industry

Although commonly associated with "fun," tourism is a major industry in its own rights

4 Strategic Thrust 4-—configuring new tourism space

Regionalisatlon is a key strategy for Singapore's continued economic development. 5 Strategic Thrust 5—-partnenng for success to realise a vision, partnership will be key.

6. Strategic Thrust 6 - Championing tourism

Big dreams can only be realised through strong commitment.
