Running head: CONSTRUCTION COMPANY 1

CONSTRUCTION COMPANY 2

Mavericks - Medium-Sized Construction Company

The national population has significantly increased over the last few decades. The growth in population has increased the demand for houses in society. However, people in today’s society are no longer living nor conducting business in simple houses like in ancient times. As such, a business opportunity exists in the building and construction sector. More construction companies are required to undertake various construction projects to ensure that society has the infrastructure needed to promote a comfortable life. For this reason, I would start a medium-sized construction company using a sum of 20 million dollars as the starting capital. The medium-sized company would be easy to start with the available resources and also easy to manage. This paper documents the company's start-up process to highlight how the startup capital would be utilized to run operations for the first six months.

The proposed middle-sized construction company will employ laborers as well as specialists to undertaken various construction projects. The building and construction sector is subdivided into several segments; commercial building, residential building, large infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges. In this case, the proposed company will focus on the development and construction of residential buildings within urban and rural areas. Focusing on a specific niche in the market promotes specialization, (Afolabi, et.al., 2018). For this reason, the company’s employees will have the perfect opportunity to develop their skills hence thus increasing the company’s overall efficiency in the long run. To start operations, the company will hire several skilled and unskilled laborers to undertake various construction duties.

Several factors must be considered before hiring employees and starting operations. First, the company must be registered as per the legal requirements. This will ensure that the name chosen for the company is not registered by a different company in the country. Another factor that must be considered is the availability of operational space. The company requires a facility that can serve as the office as well as the headquarters. For this reason, a strategic location that is close to the prospective clients, as well as necessary resources and infrastructure, must be identified, (Spender, et.al., 2017). Rather than purchase a facility to serve as the headquarters, the company will lease an office space as well as a warehouse. Employees and equipment required can be hired and purchased respectively as soon as a suitable company location is identified. Below is a breakdown of the company’s workforce.

In conclusion, the allocated sum of 20 million dollars is enough to start a mi-sized construction company that will mainly focus on developing and constructing residential buildings. The capital allocated to the company is sufficient to sustain company operations for 6 months. The company estimates that the operational costs will decline after six months. Also, the company will have started earning some revenues by the end of the fifth month. A contractual approach will not be utilized to avoid inflated operational costs.
