Conclusion
In conclusion, Covid-19 is a pandemic that has affected the whole globe. Response to the virus has determined the rate of infections in different sectors of the country. The area with the least response and therefore is prone to increased infection rates in the prison. Of all the factors that increase the inmates' risk of contracting the virus, a large population seems to be the greatest factor. Measures put in place by the world health organization to reduce the infection rate may not apply in this setting. Social distancing for instance is almost impossible to attain when incarceration centers operate as a community. Moreover, the inadequate medical staff to attend to the inmates may just be another barrier to protecting inmates from the virus. To control the infection rate in correctional centers, governments are urging the release of the incarcerated people to give them a better chance at surviving the virus. This however may not be a permanent solution as the families of the released may refuse to take them in and they may end up homeless.
