Running Head: REGULATIONS FOR APRN 1

REGULATIONS FOR APRN 4

Comparison of APRN regulations

In Missouri State, for nurses to designate one, as APRN, they must be licensed as a professional nurse and given the document of recognition from the board of nursing. It is similar to the regulations in Kansas State, where nurses cannot represent themselves as APRN unless they acquire a valid license. These nurses are not permitted to recommend controlled drugs except if they are specifically delineated in the collaborative practice agreement with a doctor. In Kansas, nurses can also prescribe drugs only through a written protocol authorized by a responsible physician (Angella Herrman, et al., 2016). In the state of Missouri, nurses have to work under supervision laws like the collaborative practice agreement, while in Kansas, they have no supervision laws.

The regulation for designated oneself can apply to the APRN (DO NOT UNDERSTAND) who has legal authority by serving the public as an advanced nurse within particular clinical nursing. The nurse has only to acquire a license according to the conditions of the nursing board, and after that, he/she can practice nursing within the legal scope. This nurse can ensure that a physician is on-site before attending to a patient or around the designated area. Collaboration between the nurse and the physician can be established through working together, especially when administering controlled medications to patients (Lavin, 2018). This means that they can support each other through sharing and using their different skills and knowledge to provide care for patients.

The regulation of prescription with a physician's permission is evident when a nurse prescribes drugs to a patient using the written protocol, which has been authorized by a responsible doctor. The nurse looks for comprehensive medical care about bipolar disorder in this protocol to give the patient a precise medication needed for that condition (Phillips, 2018). On the other hand, under the supervision law, the NP works around a physician and consult him regarding the type of medication to offer the patient. The physician works with the nurse at least twice a week or most of the time.
