Assessment Findings
-Oral glucose tolerance test. Patient will need blood drawn every hour for 2-3 hours for GD to be diagnosed. High BP glucose levels at any two or more blood test times- fasting, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours mean the patient have GD.
-Assess for s/s of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia
-Assess blood glucose levels before meals and at bedtime
-Assess patient weight daily

Intervention
-Teach and demonstrate to patient how to monitor blood sugar using a finger-stick method
-Assess and record dietary pattern and caloric intake using 24-hours recall
-Check patient weight every prenatal visit. Encourage patient to periodically monitor weight at home between visit.
