Executive Summary

This business case summarizes the details about the cost we going to use, timescale to finish the project and return on investment to make project successful. Also, it describes the benefits and risks of the project during and after the project period. This project is basically describing the concept of business related the computers. In this business I try to cover hardware installments and repairing the computer problems for the all kind of business around Darwin, schools, and some social works like educating indigenous people. I am also focusing on to solving the basic system errors occurs in the offices, create data base, implant the back-up systems and recover limited data which is lost by mistake. This project is golden chance for the newly graduate students of IT and computer fields. They can start their field job with the basic knowledge they have. So, this project will create some opportunities in Darwin as well.

Introduction

With the tremendous influence of digitalization, people start moving towards the digital devices to use in their small business or big industries. As a developing state NT, when it is on the pick of IT and computer industry set up the basic need is good computer lab- set ups. To do such kind of task, here isn’t any compony who is doing things for a small-scale business as good so far. By the report of (Worldometers.info, 2019), in current year the number of desktops and laptops are being sold is more than 161 million and it is still increasing by numbers each minute. Another major problem is employee of all the business are not from the IT field so it’s hard to maintain the labs, do the backup and if any error occurs, they don’t know how to solve. According a recent report, sales of computer services are expected to exceed $47 billion this year in the U.S. alone, with PC repair leading the way ((Anon, 2019)). So, this all numbers showing the scope of this project. This business is not just bounded here only with the hardware, our business also provides the software suggestions, create the computer network in small or big business, solve the problems happens in network of companies. For this project we are going to follows the methodology of Prince2. I did start with finding needs and problems. Then scopes, when to start, what need to execute this, pros and cons, what we need (in terms of human source, location, equipment’s etc.) how long it will take, how much it will cost and how useful is this to the local community.

By following such steps to finalize the project, I measure the project outcome so far positive. This project we can start with the low budget, it just needs office location, couple of desktops, basic lab set-up equipment’s. The main and important thing about this project is it just need IT knowledge to work in this project. So, it is easy to find the employees, also at the base rate we can provide the service to the schools, aboriginal community, and collaborated companies. Which is good and permanent business scope and helpful to the society. And with all this kind of services and rate it is obvious that this project will get massive success.

Expected Benefits and Dis-benefits

This project is committed to providing all the services related to the computers. The main reason to do this project is less competition and chance to achieve big contracts. It will help all newly opened companies especially because they get all the services from the local people like us. They don’t need to wait until someone come from down south of Australia and charge big amount of fees. Our organization will work for schools and indigenous people for low rate or held free seminar to explain the things related to computers.

SWOT Analysis

In this project I will must face some problems because this project has some weakness as mention. From all that the main problem is the performance because every time different employee will be appointed to do some stuff. So, if someone leftover something another person cannot do the rest in appropriate time. Also, the biggest threat is Darwin’s economy decline. As per my research Darwin’s economy is decline rapidly which can be reason of unsuccessful project. But on the other hand, it has many positive facts like, it will create employment in field of IT and computer. Also, this project needs basic knowledge of computers so any of graduate student can join the project and gain his/her knowledge and network. Over this it has many benefits like it will help the local community and schools to implement the latest technology in their schools just using computers. Also, it will be cheaper for the community because this project is focusing to help the society as much as we can.

After doing such analysis, it clears that we can assume that this project will work and fulfil the need of customers and the organization who paid money to create this. Risk factor of this project is minimal which direct that this project will get huge success. The main idea to doing this business is due to highly demand from market and less competition in such kind of field.

Lastly, there have some weakness of this project as mention above but the strength and opportunities will take over the factors and this project will work as smooth as mentioned.

Project Requirements:

To make this project happened we need some basic stuff like A location to open the business (More preferred in CBD Darwin), Set up in office including 2 desktops. 2 tables, 2 chairs and basic needs. Also need 3-4 casual employee (more preferred are IT graduates), One full time manager. A website to advertise ourselves.

From the project it assumed that this project will going to help all the non- IT business very well. As well as we going to do some volunteer work for schools and indigenous people which is the main purpose of this project. This is going to be the easy industry job for newly graduates. It also assumed that everything will be done in given criteria like cost, time scale.

The biggest limitation for this project is working with any of big compony and working for any IT compony. Because this kind of work need extra human resource to complete the work in given time. It can be exited the budget we fixed for this business. Al so with work for any IT compony is big trouble. We have freshly graduate so, maybe we cannot reach the expectation of the professionals in starting of our business.

Costs:

The final cost for this project business is estimated between $40k to $50k.

● Location (rent): $400*52(weekly rent) = $20,800

● (furniture and office set-up): $3,500(desktops and set up including wi-fi) + $5,000 (furniture) + $5,000 (equipment’s)

● Advertising: $4,000 (website and holding for office)

● Extra: $2,000

● Total: $40,300

❖ Milestones: As mention my cost for the business. It will be divided in main 3 parts.

1. Renting a location on yearly lease. ($20,800)

2. Set up the place. ($13,500)

3. Advertising. ($4,000)

Here the first thing we need to start project is a permanent location. So, the first milestone will be the location and money spend on it. Then set-up of that place will be the next part and end of that we must do advertise the brand.

ROI (Return on Investment):

income that can be earned by the business: -

● This business work costs $40 per hour in which the equipment like computers and cables will be provided by compony. If we assume to find work of 3000 hours. Then the total income will become $120,000 (3000*40=120,000). From that employee will be payed as the base rate of $28 per hour. So, employee will get $84,000. From this the net benefit is $36,000 at the end of the year.

● Total investment: - $50,000

● Net benefit: - $36,000

Return of investment (ROI): Net benefit/ Total investment * 100%

:36000/50000*100

:72%

So, here ROI is 72% which will be used to expand the business and make it big compony. Also, it will use to do some volunteer work for community.

Major Risks:

● A major risk is the location and population size of Darwin which will hurt the business to fulfil its assumed goal. And we do not have any option to solve it.

● Another risk factor is availability of all the employee for the business. It can be solving by motivating them on every achievement and give them credit of work done by them.

● The cost of maintaining the business is also a major risk. If this business work as expected, then it will be solving easily otherwise it will be tough to run the business.

● Here is a risk of resign of employees from the business. As mention this need basic skill and we can only hire any employee as casual base so this can be the major risk for business. It can be solved by hiring loyal and commits staff for any position.

● Client satisfaction is the key of any business, in easy terms we must provide friendly and consistence service to the customers, so they come again for work to us.

Avoid: We can avoid the risk of the availability of the employee in the business. It can be swap by another employee by another one or by hire another person for that place.

Transfer: Here is the big risk of transfer in the business due to less people in Darwin and less job for the business. So, it can be transfer to the client to the compony by self.

Mitigate: This risk factor can be solved by another job option in business. Like here we are not only serving hardware services. If it declines opportunities in that still, we can survive on job on software.

Timescale:

The timescale of this business takes around 8 to 10month of periods to start and run the business. After that we can start earning our return on investment.

❖ Milestones: To finish the work in given time period is one of the most important things for any business. Here I categories this work in different time periods of milestone given below.

2. Find the location (in CBD Darwin): 2 months.

3. Set- up the place (furniture): 2 months

(computers and equipment): 1 month

4. Fine perfect candidate for the work role: 1 month

5. Doing advertise on google(website): 1 month

6. Internal Training for the staff: 1 month

Conclusion:

In conclusion, we come up with numbers of risk, weakness attached with this business but in my opinion the positive points, strength and opportunities of this business for Darwin is more fruitful than risk. It will be built in limit of cost within given timescale. Also, it has lots of benefits for graduates, local communities and Darwin’s local businesses.
