Compile a short annotated bibliography of at least four possible secondary sources for your research essay. Each entry must contain two parts as described below, in the following order: • A Works Cited entry for the source in proper MLA style. The type of source you have (book, print article, database article, etc.) will determine the template to be followed. Not all sources follow the same exact format. • A short summary of the information contained in the source (whether the source is a book or an individual article)—about four to five sentences. This is called an annotation. The summary should be in your own words and should represent the most important information in the article. Do not use quotes or selectively change words here and there (the latter is an example of plagiarism). Consult the Purdue OWL’s MLA Formatting and Style Guide for starters: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guid e/mla_formatting_and_style_guide.html. On the left side of this page, you’ll see several links which point to types of sources; use these to help you determine where to begin. The most commonly used links are for Books, Periodicals, and Electronic Sources. Each of these pages, as well as the Guide home page, provides helpful tips on formatting, too, so read them in their entirety! Do not include Fences in this bibliography, as it as a primary source—only secondary sources may be included. Below is a sample entry for an article found in the online database JSTOR, accessed through the databases found via the GSU Library home page. Each entry in your bibliography must be alphabetized according to the author’s last name; if no author is credited, alphabetize by the first major word in the article title. The bibliography must be typed and double-spaced, with appropriate document header information at the top of the first page, and it should run 1 to 2 pages. This is a 20-point daily work grade, due to the Assignments folder by the deadline listed in your assignment calendar. Keep your eyes on the finish line! The final draft of essay 3 is due four days after this assignment is due, so the sources you include here should have a high probability of being cited in your essay.
