Catton’s analysis of the two generals focuses on what brought the nation to the battlefield (Catton, 1990). Moreover, he deals with the American history topic and the real experiences of the army life of the two generals. These two generals are analyzed to reveal the motives and emotions that led to the flood of war. The similarities from this analysis are that Civil Wars were both triumphant and devastating for the two generals, Lee and Grant generals. Another quality is that we cannot understand war in a simple manner. Moreover, he narrates that the individuals making the war cannot be synthesized and recovered for both generals.
